Scott has renewed its Addict Gravel with room for 57 mm tyres, up from 45 mm on the previous generation, and a top-end HMX frame claimed at 794 g, or 75 g less than before. The brand claims 30% more compliance at the front and 60% at the rear, on its own in-house figures. The down tube gains a storage hatch and a Syncros « Save the Day » kit with an inner tube, tyre levers and a mini pump. Seven sizes are announced, from XXS to XXL, and five builds, starting at €2,799 according to the German trade press, £2,499 in the United Kingdom.

The race for tyre clearance keeps on reshaping race gravel bikes. Scott has just added a hefty argument to it: the new Scott Addict Gravel, announced on 3 September, now swallows tyres that plenty of hardtail mountain bikes from ten years ago would have turned down.
The Scott Addict Gravel goes from 45 to 57 mm
The figure leaps out. According to road.cc, « Scott has updated its Addict Gravel with room for tyres up to 57mm wide, increased frame compliance and frame weights dropping to 794g ». The same outlet spells out the gap with the outgoing generation: « That was 45mm on the previous model; it’s now 57mm. »
The diet applies to both carbon layups. BikeRadar reports that « the top-tier HMX frame sees a 75g reduction, to 794g, compared to the previous generation », while « the lower-tier HMF version sees a 25g reduction, to 990g ». Seven sizes are in the catalogue, from XXS to XXL according to BikeRadar.
Claimed comfort, and stiffness deliberately dialled back
Scott leads with its own measurements. According to road.cc, the brand claims « 30% more compliance at the front and 60% more at the rear, according to its own in-house stats ». The manufacturer goes into detail on the rear: « Rear compliance has been improved by 60% with a rigid seatpost. Even if you were already using our comfort seatpost, there is still a 25% improvement. »
More unusually, the brand owns up to having lowered overall stiffness. Again according to road.cc, « Scott says overall stiffness is intentionally lower than on a road bike — by less than 5% — in order to improve traction and compliance ». That is a trade-off rarely seen written in black and white in a brand’s communications, where stiffness is usually sold as going up.
The geometry moves too. Scott, quoted by road.cc, sums it up like this: « The stack is 10mm higher than on the previous generation and the reach is 10mm longer, but the cockpit is 10mm shorter to compensate. » BikeRadar adds that « the bottom bracket has been lowered to accommodate wider tyres and the fork offset has been increased to improve handling on the roughest terrain », with the effect of « a longer front end, which places the front wheel further out in front ».
Down tube storage, and prices still only partial
The Addict Gravel carries its essentials inside the frame. BikeRadar describes « a large storage hatch in the down tube » and a Syncros « Save the Day » kit that « houses an inner tube, tyre levers and a mini pump in a rattle-free pouch ».
That leaves the question of price. road.cc says that « the five-model range starts at £2,499 », the price of the Addict Gravel 40. For other markets, BikeRadar noted on 3 September « £2,499 / $TBC / €TBC ». The German specialist press, for its part, published a euro price list on the very day of the announcement: according to bike-x.de, the range runs from €2,799 for the Addict Gravel 40 to €8,999 for the Premium. As of 4 September, no official French pricing could be verified.
