Mondraker Zendit R and S: the Avinox e-MTB gets an alloy rear end

Mondraker adds two cheaper Zendit models, with a carbon front triangle, an aluminium rear end and the same DJI Avinox M2S motor as the carbon models.

Mondraker Zendit R and S: the Avinox e-MTB gets an alloy rear end

IN BRIEF

Mondraker is extending its Zendit enduro e-MTB with two versions, R and S, which keep the carbon front triangle and the DJI Avinox M2S motor but switch to an aluminium rear end and linkage. Travel stays at 170 mm front and 165 mm rear, with an 800 Wh battery. eMTB-News reports German prices of €6,499 for the S and €7,499 for the R, against €8,499 until now for the RR, the entry-level carbon model. In return, the frame gains 1 kg and loses the full 29-inch option.

The Mondraker Zendit range, the enduro e-MTB powered by DJI Avinox, previously started with the carbon RR. Mondraker is adding two cheaper models, R and S, built around a simple recipe: the same carbon front triangle, the same Avinox M2S system and an all-new aluminium rear end. The brand says it wants to offer the Zendit “for more riders”.

The front triangle remains Stealth Air Carbon. The rear end and linkage switch to Stealth Alloy, the brand’s aluminium. eMTB-News gives 4.0 kg for this frame in size M/L, including hardware and paint, without shock, i.e. 1 kg more than the full-carbon frames.

The saving shows on the price tag. eMTB-News states recommended retail prices in Germany of €6,499 for the Zendit S and €7,499 for the Zendit R, and reported on 20 October that both models were available immediately. The range previously started with the RR at €8,499: the S therefore lowers the entry price by €2,000.

The same Avinox motor, a mullet setup imposed

Mondraker announces the same Avinox M2S system as on the carbon models: up to 150 Nm in Boost mode and 1,300 W peak, and an 800 Wh integrated battery, whose unchanged capacity eMTB-News highlights. The DP100 colour display is recessed into the top tube. Travel remains 170 mm front and 165 mm rear.

What disappears is the choice of wheels. The R and S run a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheel, with no full 29-inch option: eMTB-News specifies that the option offered by the carbon models disappears entirely on these two versions.

Fox for the R, RockShox for the S

The Zendit R gets a 170 mm Fox 38 Float GRIP Performance fork, a Fox Float-X LV Performance shock, a wireless SRAM S1000 Eagle AXS T-Type drivetrain and DT Swiss Hybrid H 1900 wheels. The Zendit S moves to a RockShox ZEB Base fork, a Super Deluxe Select shock, a mechanical 12-speed SRAM 70 Eagle T-Type drivetrain and Mavic E-Access XR30 wheels.

Both share SRAM Maven Base brakes with four-piston callipers and 200 mm rotors, as well as a Maxxis Assegai front tyre in 29 x 2.5. The manufacturer quotes 23.95 kg for the complete Zendit R, without specifying the size, eMTB-News reports, adding on 20 October that the weight of the S had yet to be announced.
