On a bikepacking bike, the top tube is where the small items you want close to hand go. Apidura describes the Long Top Tube Pack as a “large capacity, durable and waterproof” top tube bag, designed to maximise space and provide quick, easy access to the essentials.
The Apidura Expedition Long Top Tube Pack in detail
The bag offers 2 litres of internal storage and two external mesh pockets on the sides. It uses the brand’s “Expedition” fabric: a waterproof, weldable and durable 3-layer fabric with a cross-woven core, PFA- and PFC-free. The seams are welded and the waterproof zip opens in both directions. It weighs 258 g.
For mounting, three Hypalon Stability straps attach to the top tube, and a soft Velcro strap fastens to the head tube. Apidura’s website lists it at €117.
The rest of the Expedition range
The Long Top Tube Pack joins the other Expedition bags listed on Apidura’s website. For the top tube, the 1-litre Bolt-On Top Tube Pack weighs 104 g. On the Expedition Saddle Pack, Apidura announces an integrated three-claw mount for a compatible rear light. The Frame Pack and the Full Frame Pack fit inside the frame triangle, the latter filling it entirely to carry heavy items. Finally, the Expedition Handlebar Pack comes in 9 litres, recommended for classic road handlebars, and in 14 litres for large gravel bikes with flared bars.
