IN BRIEF
Materiaal has opened pre-orders for its Founders Series range: four carbon wheelsets, Road, Road+, Gravel and Gravel+, each designed for a range of tyre widths, from 28 to 57 mm. The rims come in 52, 58 or 65 mm depths. The brand quotes a retail price of €1,850 per pair, cut in November to €1,550 for the first 35 sets and €1,650 for the following ones, until 30 November. Delivery is targeted for spring 2027, and the order can be cancelled at any time before shipping.

The brand was born at cyclocross races, around a family: Sidney raced, Geoffrey looked after the bikes. It already sells two models, the CX50 PRO and the RX50 PRO, shipped immediately while stocks last.
Materiaal wheels matched to tyre size
Rather than one do-it-all rim, Materiaal offers four widths. The Road, with a 23.5 mm internal width, is aimed at 28 to 30 mm tyres. The Road+ moves up to 25.5 mm for 32 to 35 mm tyres. On the gravel side, the Gravel has a 32.5 mm internal width for 40 to 45 mm tyres, and the Gravel+ 35.5 mm for 45 to 57 mm sections. All four are Tubeless Ready.

Rim depths follow the same logic: 52, 58 or 65 mm for the Road, Road+ and Gravel, 58 or 65 mm for the Gravel+. For tyres, the brand has chosen Challenge as its partner.
A lower price for early buyers
The brand’s website lists prices in euros. The retail price is €1,850 per pair, after 30 November. During the November campaign, the brand states €1,550 for the first 35 sets sold, then €1,650 until 30 November. Materiaal says the first 1,000 sets in the series will be individually numbered. The brand also promises that, if the campaign exceeds 100 paid pairs, every buyer will receive two padded wheel bags and a bottle.
Spring delivery, cancellable right up to the end
Buying on pre-order means paying for wheels that are not yet in series production. Materiaal says so itself: production and delivery dates are targets, with shipping aimed for spring 2027. In return, the order can be cancelled at any time before delivery, with a full refund. Once the wheels arrive, the brand offers 30 days to ride them and request a refund if you are not satisfied.
The warranty covers the carbon rim for 10 years and the components for 4 years. Materiaal says it also includes the repair or replacement of accidental damage, once, for the original buyer. A useful safety net for wheels paid for in November and expected in spring.
