WTB is expanding its wheel range with the CMR Light i30, which it classes as cross-country and trail. WTB designs them for riders who prioritise “low weight, efficiency, and responsive handling”. Bikerumor describes them as 1,300-gram wheels.
A 30 mm hookless carbon rim
The carbon rim has a 30 mm internal width. WTB states that this width provides an optimised foundation for modern mountain bike tyres. Its hookless profile and wide upper legs are meant to limit pinch flats and make tubeless set-up more reliable, the brand adds. The spoke holes are angled to follow the spokes’ natural line between rim and hub.
The official product page lists 24 spokes per wheel, with an aerodynamic Wing 21 profile, and a CenterLock rotor mount. The claimed weights, 609 g front and 691 g rear, include the Solid Strip rim strip, tubeless tape and valve.

WTB CMR Light i30 wheels use Frequency 7X hubs
The Frequency 7X hubs use DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coated 36-tooth ratchets, for 10 degrees of engagement. WTB says it fits “larger than industry-typical” Enduro bearings, in both the hub shell and the freehub body. The brand claims up to 38% more load rating than competing rear hubs.
The rear wheel comes with a SRAM XD/R or Shimano Micro Spline freehub body, in Boost 148 x 12 mm. The front is Boost 110 x 15 mm.

A broken rim replaced free of charge for the original owner
The CMR Light i30 are covered by WTB’s “Ride With Confidence” guarantee. If the original owner breaks a carbon rim while riding, the brand sends them a replacement rim for free, “No exceptions”.
