IN BRIEF

How Decathlon’s leasing works
The employee requests a quote on Decathlon’s online shop, or gets advice in one of the twenty participating stores, where they can also take a test ride. The rest is handled by Lease a Bike and the employer, and the cost is spread over 36 months. For maintenance and repairs, leasing cyclists go to affiliated Decathlon stores. The press release states that in addition to the tax benefit, maintenance, repairs, insurance and breakdown assistance are included in the lease.

The bike can be used outside work journeys. This private use is subject to a taxable benefit in kind (the “bijtelling”) of 7 % of the recommended retail price.
What Decathlon and Lease a Bike say
“At Decathlon, we believe that sport and movement should be accessible to everyone,” says Carmen van Duinen, Business Developer at Decathlon Nederland. For Lease a Bike, the deal expands its existing dealer network. Anouk Hiensch highlights the choice offered to employees:
“More and more employees are discovering the simplicity of leasing a bike through their employer. By adding Decathlon to our dealer network, we are broadening freedom of choice.”
