Aventon Fast Charger: a 510 W charger that recharges its e-bikes in under 2 hours

IN BRIEF

Aventon is launching the Fast Charger, a charger rated at up to 510 W for its e-bikes. The brand claims a full charge in under two hours, compared with six to eight hours with the standard charger, making charging up to three times faster; it specifies that the speed depends on the battery’s state of charge and temperature as well as the ambient temperature, and that fast charging may not be sustained throughout the whole cycle. Fast mode is activated in the Aventon app, with normal mode remaining the default. The charger is UL-certified and compatible with around ten of the brand’s models; it sells for $259 on Aventon’s US website.

A fast mode controlled from the app

The charger starts in normal mode, which is the default. Fast mode has to be switched on manually in the Aventon app, and the charger can also perform a slow charge. Aventon announces protection against overheating and overcharging, and says it has not observed any notable battery degradation before 500 cycles.

Compatible models

The product page lists the Current, Level 3, Level 4 REC and ADV, Aventure 3 and Aventure M, Abound SR and LR, Pace 4 and Pace 5 REC. The charger sells for $259 on the brand’s US website.
