IN BRIEF

The inventory of the Ottobrunn site, near Munich, where Porsche eBike Performance developed Fazua motors, has been auctioned off in 1,476 lots by the auction house Restlos. Motor test benches, test e-bikes, tooling and office furniture were up for sale, and the test benches went for up to 32,100 euros. Porsche had decided to wind down the subsidiary, citing fundamentally changed market conditions for e-bike motors; the closure of Ottobrunn and Zagreb affects around 350 employees. On 15 October, MTB-News noted that the catalogue offered nothing new on the future of servicing for Fazua motors already on the road; Fazua has stated that service, warranty and spare parts remain assured through its dealer network for the years to come.

The Ottobrunn site has been emptied in a single sale. German trade site SAZbike reports that the 1,476 lots from the former headquarters of Porsche eBike Performance have been sold at auction, and sees the sale as the visible end point of Porsche’s e-bike motor business.

From Fazua test benches to test bikes

The auction house Restlos offered test equipment, test bikes and the fittings of the workshops and offices. The highest bids went to the motor test benches, up to 32,100 euros, SAZbike writes. Among them, bike-magazin spotted an end-of-line test bench for Fazua Ride 60 motors, and quotes its description: it was used to test and calibrate the motors under load, measuring power and torque in particular.

The e-bikes in the catalogue were not limited to Fazua-powered models, MTB-News notes: a Porsche-Rotwild eBike Cross, a 2025 model year carbon Raymon Tarok electric mountain bike, a Haibike Trekking 10 High, a Cowboy, a Stromer ST3 Pinion and two Riese & Müller UBN Five. The site points out that these test bikes had not been checked to see whether they worked. An industrial robot was also part of the sale.

Porsche eBike Performance shut down in a changed market

Porsche had announced the wind-down of three subsidiaries in a single press release: Cellforce, Porsche eBike Performance and Cetitec, more than 500 employees in total. Porsche eBike Performance had been set up to develop high-performance drive systems for e-bikes and sell them worldwide. The carmaker attributes the decision to fundamentally changed market conditions for these motors. The closure of the Ottobrunn and Zagreb sites concerns around 350 employees.

What about the Fazua motors already sold?

That is the question for owners of Fazua-equipped bikes, and the sale does not answer it. On 15 October, MTB-News noted that the auction catalogue said nothing new about spare parts, warranty or servicing for existing Fazua motors. Fazua has nonetheless stated that “service, warranty and the availability of spare parts” remain assured “via our dealer network for the years to come”, bike-magazin reports. The magazine points out that Fazua says neither what this covers in practice, nor how long service and parts are guaranteed.
