Lapierre is marking its 80th anniversary with a special version of its Xelius DRS road frame, unveiled on the day of stage 10 of the Tour de France, on 14 July. Named « Kinetic Dust », the finish blends three symbolic colours applied as a scattering of particles, denser in the places where the structure takes the most stress. Only 100 numbered units will be sold, as a bare frame at €4,499. The Picnic PostNL team rode it on the 14 July stage. Technically, it is the same Xelius DRS frame that has been used in racing for a while now: a claimed 740 grams and a claimed 15 % aerodynamic gain over the previous Xelius SL3.

One hundred numbers, not one more. For its 80th anniversary, Lapierre did not settle for an anniversary sticker on its flagship road frame, the Xelius DRS: the Dijon-based brand designed an entire finish around the idea, and raced it on the most symbolic day of all.
A finish conceived as a story
The finish on the Xelius DRS 80th Anniversary is called « Kinetic Dust ». Rather than a flat block of colour, the frame gets a scattering of particles, denser in the areas that take the most mechanical stress: the bottom bracket, the aero fork, the junction between the seatstays and the top tube. Three shades are layered on top of one another, each with its own meaning as claimed by the brand: dark blue for Lapierre’s DNA and heritage, teal for the moment when pain turns into momentum, champagne for the quiet satisfaction of a personal victory. The concept aims to tell a trajectory rather than display a plain « 80 years » logo.
The Xelius DRS, a frame already proven in racing
Under the special paint, there is no technical surprise: the base is the sixth-generation Xelius DRS, already used in competition. Lapierre quotes a raw frame weight of 740 grams and claims a 15 % aerodynamic gain over its predecessor, the Xelius SL3. The brand also highlights its in-house 3D tube technology, said to offer comfort without sacrificing stiffness. The bare frame sells for €4,499, in sizes S, M and L only — consistent with a run limited to 100 numbered units, sold worldwide.
A launch timed for 14 July
The choice of date is no accident. Lapierre unveiled this special edition for stage 10 of the 2026 Tour de France, held on 14 July — France’s national day, on the roads of the Tour, for a French brand that has been around since 1946. The Picnic PostNL team raced that stage on the Xelius DRS 80th Anniversary frame. A way for Lapierre to line up a commercial milestone with a symbol, rather than slipping it quietly into its catalogue.
The fact remains that these 100 units are aimed at a very specific audience: collectors and enthusiasts ready to put €4,499 into a bare frame, with no groupset and no wheels. An anniversary object more than a bike designed for the many.
