The Grands Causses Regional Nature Park has added seven new gravel routes, bringing the total to 31. These new tracks, in the Lodévois-Larzac area, take in varied and unusual landscapes. A multi-day route is also planned for this summer. The GPX files are available free of charge to gravel riders.
Seven new routes to explore the Lodévois-Larzac by gravel bike
The “Terre de Gravel” label is spreading towards the southern end of the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park, adding seven new gravel routes running from Le Caylar to Lake Salagou. Until now the routes had centred on Millau, leaving the southern part of the park largely unexplored.
The new tracks showcase the variety of the landscape: spectacular descents such as the one into the Cirque de Navacelles, the red ruffe soils of Salagou, the Parlatges forest and the open pastures of the causse. Each route is designed to appeal both to seasoned cyclists and to riders after a gentler outing.
Local partnerships for something different
These routes were developed with local partners, ensuring a rewarding discovery of the region. Public bodies, accommodation providers and cycling professionals joined forces to build routes that reflect local specifics.
Every loop comes with practical details: elevation profile, water points, seasonal advice and nearby accommodation, all available on the park’s official website and on the Komoot platform.
A bikepacking route due this summer
Alongside these local loops, a bikepacking project crossing the park from north to south is being prepared for the summer. Running from the Causse de Sévérac to the volcanic shores of Lake Salagou, it is intended as an immersive adventure for riders keen to explore, while promoting slow tourism.
The initiative would further boost the appeal of the Grands Causses, especially with the event coming up on 13 June, when Millau hosts a round of the UCI Gravel World Series on the Wish One courses. Reason enough for enthusiasts to get on their bikes and discover these new horizons.
