IN BRIEF
Stages is launching the SB200, which BikeRadar presents as the brand’s first product designed from scratch since its takeover by Giant; Escape Collective points out that it is its first new smart bike since the SB20 of 2019. It weighs 25 kg less than its predecessor, at 32.3 kg, thanks to a much smaller flywheel backed by a two-stage belt drive. Its frame deliberately sways from side to side to mimic the feel of a real bike. DC Rainmaker, Escape Collective and BikeRadar put it at €2,399 in Europe; BikeRadar says European deliveries are scheduled for 9 November.

On the SB20, inertia came from a 55-pound flywheel, Stages explained to BikeRadar. Its successor, the Stages SB200, does without it. BikeRadar presents it as the American brand’s first all-new product since Giant announced its takeover, following its 2024 bankruptcy.

The Stages SB200 sheds 25 kg without losing its inertia
The new bike weighs 32.3 kg, i.e. 25 kg less than the SB20, DC Rainmaker and Escape Collective note. The saving comes mainly from the flywheel, which has become much smaller. Escape Collective explains that the road feel is preserved by a two-stage, lubricant-free belt drive with a 25:1 ratio. DC Rainmaker reports that the brand thus claims five times the inertia of the SB20.
Resistance reaches 400 W at 40 rpm and over 1,500 W at 12 rpm, with a maximum of 2,500 W, BikeRadar details. BikeRadar writes that the SB200 is designed to reproduce the feel of accelerating, climbing and sprinting.
A frame that moves, on purpose
Escape Collective speaks of a slight, intentional sway. Cycling Weekly describes two rubber feet at the rear, which create a gentle side-to-side movement during the effort, to relieve the lower back and get closer to the feel of the road.
Virtual shifting can be customised, with Shimano, SRAM and Dream Drive presets. A built-in display, which DC Rainmaker says measures 2.23 inches, shows power, the selected gear, cadence and session duration. The bike works natively with Zwift, TrainingPeaks Virtual, Rouvy and MyWhoosh.
From 147 to 208 cm, and €2,399 in Europe
The fit range covers riders from 147 to 208 cm, with four crank lengths: 165, 170, 172.5 and 175 mm. DC Rainmaker gives a maximum rider weight of 136 kg.
The European price announced by DC Rainmaker, Escape Collective and BikeRadar is €2,399. BikeRadar says first deliveries are scheduled for 5 October 2026 in the United States and 9 November 2026 in the European Union.
