Basque manufacturer Bicicletas Mendiz is launching the F14 SL-SLP, two carbon versions of the same road bike, hand-assembled in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The SL version has an 820 g frame; the SLP drops to 720 g thanks to a higher-grade carbon, with a complete bike at 6.3 kg in size M. The F14 takes tyres up to 35 mm. In France, prices start at €4,029 (Shimano 105 Di2) and climb to €14,380 for the top-end Campagnolo builds. Every unit is made to order.

Bicicletas Mendiz is unveiling the F14 SL-SLP, its new flagship road bike. The brand, based in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Spanish Basque Country, is offering two variants that share the same geometry and the same frame technologies, but differ in the grade of carbon used — and therefore in weight and price positioning. The Mendiz F14 is not a mass-produced bike: every unit is hand-assembled, to order.
SL or SLP: one carbon, two grades
The difference between the two versions comes down to the grade of carbon fibre used in the frame lay-up. The SL (Superlight) version has an 820 g frame. The SLP (Superlight Performance) drops to 720 g thanks to a higher proportion of high-strength carbon — 100 g less on the scales, a significant saving on a road bike. As a complete build, the SLP.01SC version (Dura-Ace Di2 and Scope wheels) comes in at 6.3 kg in size M.
Both frames share MonoShell EPS+™ technology — a monocoque construction that does away with the junctions between tubes — and the AirFlow D-Shape™ tube profile, a D-shaped section meant to cut aerodynamic drag without a weight penalty. The Forward Performance Geometry™ tilts the seat tube 0.5° from vertical, to favour power delivery and pedalling efficiency.
Up to 35 mm of clearance: more than a pure road bike
The figure that sets the F14 apart in its category: 35 mm of tyre clearance. Many road bikes stay in the 28 to 32 mm range. With 35 mm, the F14 can take wider tyres to improve comfort on broken tarmac, or venture onto the odd hard-packed track. Not a gravel bike, but a road bike that isn’t confined to smooth circuits.
The cables and brake hose are routed internally through the frame. A clean layout that improves aerodynamics and looks, at the cost of slightly trickier maintenance.
From €4,029 to €14,380: the configurator as a playground
On the French market, the mendizbikes.fr configurator offers the F14 SL in seven different builds. The most affordable is the F14SL.05 at €4,029, with Shimano 105 Di2. For a higher-end groupset, the F14SL.02C moves to Ultegra Di2 for €5,855, and the F14SL.03C offers SRAM Force AXS at €6,328.
The SLP range starts at €7,439 with the F14SLP.01C in Dura-Ace Di2, or €8,319 for the F14SLP.00C fitted with SRAM Red AXS. The top of the range — the F14SLP.00BR with a Campagnolo groupset and Bora Ultra wheels — reaches €14,380. In every case, replacement wheels (Mavic, Fulcrum, Scope) can be added to the base configuration.
A bike assembled by hand, in the Spanish Basque Country
Every Mendiz F14 is assembled individually by a dedicated technician at the Basque factory in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The brand works exclusively to order — there is no stock. Buyers should therefore expect a wait between order and delivery. That artisanal positioning stands apart from the industrial volumes of the big European brands, and is closer to the small Italian or Belgian builders who have made hand assembly a selling point in its own right.
