MAAP enters the eyewear market with its Advanced_Optics collection

IN BRIEF

Australian brand MAAP, known for its cycling clothing, is launching its very first performance eyewear collection, named Advanced_Optics. Four models make up the range: Halo, Oracle and Fuse for sporting use, and Gerson for lifestyle wear. All of them rely on ultralight TR90 frames, full UV protection and hydrophobic, oleophobic and anti-fog coatings, with interchangeable lenses on the Halo and Oracle. The collection has been on sale since 7 July 2026 on the brand’s website, in its MAAP LaB stores and at selected retailers, at prices ranging from €160 to €220.

MAAP, a brand born in Melbourne and best known for its jerseys and bib shorts, is moving into a new aisle: performance optics. It unveiled its Advanced_Optics collection on 6 July 2026, with sales starting the following day on its website and in its MAAP LaB stores.

Advanced_Optics: three sport models, one lifestyle model

The Halo opens the Advanced_Optics range with a rimless frame — no surround — and a curved lens designed to maximise the field of vision. It weighs 21.8 g and comes with an interchangeable Silver Mirror lens (23% light transmission, for very sunny days) or a Yellow one (79% transmission, for low light).

The Oracle takes a semi-rimless frame in matt TR90, with an adaptive grip system. At 23.9 g, it too offers two interchangeable lenses: a dark green at 18% VLT for harsh light, or a pink at 57% VLT for overcast days.

The Fuse closes out the sporting trio with a full-coverage wraparound frame, at 23.3 g and a fixed lens at 15% VLT — the darkest of the three, cut out for bright sun. The Gerson, finally, steps outside the strictly sporting remit: an acetate frame in a marbled “Green Tortoise” colourway, intended for lifestyle wear beyond the bike.

Technical coatings and distribution

Across the whole Advanced_Optics collection, MAAP claims 100% UV protection as well as hydrophobic, oleophobic and anti-fog coatings on the lenses. The Halo, Oracle and Fuse frames feature TPE nose pads and temple tips to keep them in place in sweaty conditions.

MAAP frames this diversification as brand continuity rather than a one-off marketing move. “We are obsessed with the details — we always have been. Eyewear is not a new subject for us, it is part of the way we live and ride,” says Ian Elliot, managing director of MAAP.

Advanced_Optics is sold on maap.cc, in MAAP LaB stores and at a selection of retailers around the world.
