Fauna Components is now selling the XL Cargo Cage separately, which the brand presents as an enlarged version of its original cargo cage, designed to carry large dry bags on the fork.

The Fauna XL Cargo Cage doubles the load

The XL Cargo Cage is tested to 6 kg. The Radavist points out that this is twice the standard Cargo Cage, tested to 3 kg. Fauna notes that with a cargo cage this size, the strength of the bosses matters, especially on a carbon frame.

Stainless steel that can be bent back

The body is cut from 3 mm 304 stainless steel, the foot from 5 mm stainless steel. The brand chose this material for its fatigue resistance, and because a cage bent in a crash can be straightened without breaking. Two finishes are offered: black in a sand-textured powder coat, or raw stainless steel.

The foot can be removed entirely to fit a very long load, save a few grams or pair the cage with Fauna’s Front Cargo System, The Radavist adds. It mounts on standard M5 bosses with 2, 3 or 4 bolts, with 64 mm spacing.

Made in Canada, sold in pairs

The XL Cargo Cage is made in British Columbia. As of 20 October, the brand’s website lists the two-pack on sale at €108.95 in black (down from €125.95) and at €104.95 in raw stainless steel. It includes two cages, two feet, six 16 mm M5 bolts and six TPU spacers.
