Tout Terrain is adding a hardtail to its X.Over range. Bikepacking.com notes that the Catalina drops the Pinion gearbox in favour of a rear derailleur, and that it draws on the Outback, the brand’s Pinion-gearbox adventure bike. The Catalina, which bikepacking.com points out was first sketched out at the Sea Otter Classic, arrives on the German brand’s website as a complete bike and as a frame kit. The brand describes it as combining sporty agility with the endurance of a true bikepacking hardtail.
A steel Tout Terrain Catalina, built to last
The frame is made of Thermocrom steel, paired with a 120 mm suspension fork. For Tout Terrain, the combination delivers precise handling on trails and comfort over long stages. The Select 7.1 version gets a RockShox Reba Gold, a Shimano Deore 1×12 drivetrain and WTB KOM Tough i30 rims, all in matt black.
The geometry chart on the product page lists four sizes, with 438 mm chainstays across the range, a reach of 426 to 473 mm and a 65 mm bottom bracket drop.
A frame kit to build up yourself
Alongside the complete bike, Tout Terrain sells the Catalina as a customisable frame kit, from €1,300. The finish can be gloss or matt, and the brand states a delivery time of around 8 to 12 weeks. For its part, bikepacking.com writes that pre-orders are open, with a lead time of around 12 to 18 weeks for both frame kits and complete bikes.

At €3,199 built, the Catalina is aimed at riders who want a steel hardtail for multi-day trips without giving up on trails.
