Commencal updates the Supreme DH to version 5.2. Commencal presents the Supreme DH V5.2 as a fine-tuning exercise, not a redesign. The frame that has won several World Cup rounds gains two targeted technical changes to its kinematics. Arthur Quet, technical director of Commencal’s DH Performance programme, presented the changes.
HVCS 2.0: the pivot switches branch
The central change on the V5.2 concerns the rear pivot of the HVCS suspension. On the V5, that pivot sat on the chainstays. On the V5.2, it has been moved to the seatstays. According to Commencal, this repositioning “significantly alters the dynamic balance of the bike” — sharper responsiveness and improved rider feel under load.
The 6-bar layout of the HVCS suspension is unchanged. What changes is the location of one pivot point within that architecture, with consequences for how loads are distributed through a turn and for neutrality under fast compressions.
Braking reframed, quieter drivetrain
The rear brake caliper has been repositioned to suit the new kinematics. According to the manufacturer, this shift reduces weight transfer under braking — a sensitive point on fast technical sections. The frame also gets “Silent Mode” chainstay and seatstay protectors, intended to limit drivetrain noise during hard pedalling.
The frame adopts the UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) standard, compatible with SRAM XX DH T-Type groupsets and the latest-generation Fox Float X2 shocks. EFBE 5 certification — presented as the highest classification for a mountain bike in terms of reliability and strength — has been obtained for the new frame.
Mullet and pre-orders, deliveries in October
The V5.2 adopts the mullet configuration (29″ front, 27.5″ rear) across all sizes. It comes in four configurations: frame alone at €2916.66 excl. VAT, then three complete builds between €6,000 and €8,250 excl. VAT depending on the shock and the components. Prices including VAT are not given at this stage on the Commencal site.
Pre-orders are open at commencal.com. Shipping is expected in October 2026 depending on size and configuration. The Andorran brand is racing this frame in the DH World Cup, where the Supreme DH has already taken several podiums this season.
