Revel El Jefe Grande: a titanium hardtail built for 32-inch wheels

IN BRIEF

Revel is selling the El Jefe Grande, a titanium hardtail mountain bike frame designed for 32-inch wheels and derived from its 29-inch El Jefe. It is built around a 100 mm fork, weighs 2.16 kg in size L and gets a 3D-printed titanium head tube. The official product page offers it as a frame only, at $3,499 in the United States with a $500 deposit (€489.95 on the official shop served in euros), and Revel says frames will ship before 31 December 2026.

Revel moves to 32-inch wheels with a titanium hardtail. The Revel El Jefe Grande takes the idea of the 29-inch El Jefe, the brand’s light and fast XC frame, and gives it big wheels. Bikepacking.com notes that it was shown earlier in the year as part of Revel’s Concept Labs programme. Deposits are open on Revel’s website.

Geometry designed for 32-inch wheels, not stretched

Adam Miller, Revel’s founder, tells road.cc why the brand took its time:

“A lot of 32” bikes have pretty strange geometry. To me, most of them feel awkward, like they’ve just been stretched out to fit the wheels.”

Adam Miller, founder of Revel

He adds that when the Concept Labs bikes were shown at Sea Otter, the brand knew it “wasn’t quite ready to bring to market”. In size L, road.cc gives a reach of 480 mm, a head angle of 67.5°, a seat angle of 72.7° and chainstays of 440 to 457 mm. The frame comes in four sizes: M, L and XL run 32-inch wheels front and rear, while the S pairs a 32-inch front wheel with a 29-inch rear wheel. The official product page specifies that 29-inch is only approved at the rear of the size S.

A 3D-printed titanium head tube

The frame is made of titanium. The official product page details its head tube: 3D-printed in titanium, then sleeved and welded to the tubes. Revel quotes 2.16 kg for the frame, and bikepacking.com specifies that this is for a size L. It is designed around a 100 mm 32-inch fork, and accepts up to 110 mm.

From cross-country to bikepacking

Revel is targeting XC racing as well as bikepacking. The sliding dropouts offer 17 mm of chainstay length adjustment, enough to tune the handling or build the bike as a singlespeed, and the derailleur hanger is UDH-compatible. The frame has five mounts for bottles or accessories, and leaves room for mud around the 32-inch tyres. At the rear, the brake attaches via a 160 mm post mount, with a 180 mm rotor at most.

As of 7 October, Revel’s official page only offered the frame, to be built up by the buyer. In the United States it costs $3,499, and can be reserved with a $500 deposit. The official product page specifies that these deposits cover a limited first batch and are non-refundable, except for delays due to exceptional circumstances. Road.cc gives a price of £2,999 in the United Kingdom. Served in euros, Revel’s official shop shows the deposit at €489.95. Revel says the frames will ship before 31 December 2026.
