The SyncDrive Pro 4 runs on 48 volts. Giant claims 120 Nm of torque and 850 W of peak power, for a weight of 2.4 kg, and presents it as its motor with the best torque-to-weight ratio to date. Assistance is torque-driven: the brand claims a 0.28-second response when setting off and support of up to 500% of the rider’s effort.

Traction control for the rear wheel

The bike also gets traction control (Traction Control). According to Giant, it detects rear-wheel slip and refines the assistance accordingly, to maintain grip on technical climbs. The feature also comes on the Intrigue Advanced E+, which Liv describes as having “intelligent traction control”.

840 Wh for the Trance, 560 Wh for the Liv Intrigue

The Trance Advanced E+ carries an 840 Wh battery weighing 3.7 kg, which can be supplemented by a 280 Wh range extender. It rolls on a mixed-wheel setup, with a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear, and its geometry is adjusted via a three-position flip chip. Giant claims a 300 g saving on the frameset, and 21.9 kg for the top-of-the-range Trance Advanced E+ 0 version.

At Liv, Giant’s brand dedicated to women cyclists, the Intrigue Advanced E+ uses the same SyncDrive Pro 4 motor and mixed wheels, but with a more compact 560 Wh battery weighing 2.6 kg. According to Liv, the Intrigue Advanced E+ offers 150 mm of rear travel with a 160 mm fork, and weighs 20.0 kg as a complete bike.
