IN BRIEF

Marking 50 years, Trek has given the Lidl-Trek team’s Madone SLR 9 AXS a collector’s livery called “First 50 ICON”, which Juan Ayuso and Mads Pedersen will take to the start of the 2026 Tour de France, with the same livery for the women’s team at the Tour de France Femmes. The individually numbered frame retraces the brand’s history in small illustrations, from its founding in a Wisconsin barn in 1976, with a special white and red saddle and Aeolus RSL wheels carrying anniversary graphics. A Replica version (Madone SL 7) takes up the design without the ICON’s exclusive extras. According to CNews, the ICON is priced at €14,400 and the Replica at €5,600.

The 2026 Tour de France peloton will have its share of special bikes, but Lidl-Trek’s stands out with a finish that owes nothing to chance: to mark Trek’s 50 years, the Wisconsin brand has designed a collector’s livery worn by its entire WorldTour team from the moment the race starts.

The First 50 ICON, a numbered timeline frame

The First 50 ICON is exclusive to the Madone SLR 9 AXS, the top-of-the-range model in the Madone SLR Gen 8 platform. On the frame, a timeline retraces the key stages in the brand’s history, with the message “Founded in 1976. Aiming for 2076” given pride of place. Trek was created fifty years ago in a Wisconsin barn, with a stated aim from the outset: to take on the European manufacturers then regarded as the industry’s benchmark.

Each small illustration on the frame has its meaning: the original barn, the founders, the first innovations, the Y bike, the sustainability commitments and the youth cycling development programmes. The frame is individually numbered on the chainstay, and the ICON is completed by a special white and red saddle with red rails as well as Bontrager Aeolus RSL wheels finished with gold anniversary graphics.

Ayuso and Pedersen at the Tour de France start

Trek says so plainly: Lidl-Trek is racing its WorldTour squads on the First 50 ICON at the 2026 Tour de France as well as at the Tour de France Femmes. The bike will be ridden by the men’s team leaders, Juan Ayuso and Mads Pedersen, while the women’s team will race in the same heritage livery at its own Grande Boucle.

A collector’s edition, and a more affordable version

The First 50 ICON is not reserved for professional riders alone. Trek is also offering a Replica edition, based on the Madone SL 7, which takes up the collection’s graphics without the ICON’s exclusive extras (special wheels and saddle, numbering). According to CNews, the ICON is priced at €14,400 apiece, while the Replica is offered at €5,600. Trek has not released an official price of its own. Pre-orders for the anniversary collection, which closed on 13 April, have started to be delivered: the first 100 orders in June 2026, the rest in July 2026.
