French manufacturer Hutchinson is expanding its Republic urban range with a Cargo version, designed for conventional and electrically assisted cargo bikes. The tyre relies on the CrossGuard puncture-protection technology, a polyamide belt backed by a bead-to-bead rubber wall, for a claimed puncture resistance of up to 200 newtons. It will be offered in five sizes, from 20 to 26 inches, with maximum loads of up to 140 kg, at a single price of €34.99. It is due to go on sale in September 2026.

Five sizes, a claimed puncture resistance of 200 newtons and a single price of €34.99: Hutchinson has detailed its new Republic Cargo tyre, a version of its Republic urban range shaped for cargo bikes.
CrossGuard technology put to work on load
The Republic Cargo combines a polyamide puncture-protection belt with a rubber wall that runs from bead to bead, a construction Hutchinson calls CrossGuard. According to the brand, this architecture takes puncture resistance up to 200 newtons, or 10% more than rivals in the category. The tread pattern combines three different designs, intended to grip on urban tarmac as well as on rougher tracks.
Five sizes to cover cargo bikes
The tyre comes in five references, from 20 x 2.2 to 26 x 2.4 inches, with maximum loads ranging from 109 to 140 kg depending on the size — enough to cover a compact cargo bike as well as a more heavily loaded model. All sizes are sold at the same price, €34.99.
On sale in September
The Republic Cargo rounds out the existing Republic range, already fitted to city, trekking and electrically assisted bikes. It is announced for release in September 2026.
