Ritchey is relaunching the Road Logic, a steel road frame designed for rim brakes. It returns as a Signature Edition, bearing Tom Ritchey’s autograph on the top tube.
The Ritchey Road Logic returns in a Signature Edition
Escape Collective reports that the rim-brake Road Logic is back in the Ritchey range, in the form of this new Signature Edition. For the brand’s marketing director, Fergus Tanaka, “There is still real demand for high-quality rim-brake steel road framesets”.
Ritchey presents the signature as a subtle reminder: the frame is said to be a direct expression of Tom Ritchey’s lifelong attachment to steel and ride quality. According to the official product page, the model belongs to a legacy that traces back to the 1970s, when Tom Ritchey built his first road frame in his parents’ garage in northern California.
Tubing designed by Tom Ritchey
The frame uses a heat-treated, triple-butted Ritchey Logic tubeset designed by Tom Ritchey. According to the official product page, its very short butts are optimised for TIG welding, to save weight and improve ride quality. The forged-and-machined integrated head tube takes standard bearings and saves 80 grams over a standard head tube design, according to the brand.
Ritchey quotes 1,750 g for the frame in size 55. It comes with a Ritchey WCS Carbon Road carbon fork, weighing 380 g with an uncut steerer, and a WCS headset. Clearance allows 700 x 30c tyres, depending on the tyre and rim manufacturer. The bottom bracket is a 68 mm English-threaded shell, and the frame takes chainsets from 46/30 to 53/39 teeth.
Six sizes and a European price of €1,699
The Road Logic Signature Edition comes in six sizes, from 49 to 59 cm. Escape Collective gives a price of 1,699 euros including VAT in Europe; Ritchey’s official product page, checked on 25 September, showed 1,759 dollars.
