Basso dresses its SV road bike in a paint scheme called Supernova: a continuous gradient from cosmic purple to deep teal, shot through with hand-painted gold veins. The Italian brand says it is marking ten years since Greg Van Avermaet’s Olympic road race title in Rio, in 2016 — the Belgian has been Head of Riding Experience at Basso since the start of the year. On the technical side, Rennrad-News reports that the Supernova carries over the existing Basso SV: this is a paint job, then. According to the same source, the finish is offered in seven sizes and with five electronic groupsets, from €4,999 for the frameset and €7,949 for a complete build.

There are two ways for a bike manufacturer to mark an anniversary. Launch a model, or launch a paint scheme. Basso has gone for the second, and owns it: the SV Supernova Edition is exactly the road bike the San Zenone degli Ezzelini brand already sells, in a new coat.
A Supernova paint scheme in purple, turquoise and gold
Basso sums up its colourway in three words: “Cosmic violet. Deep teal. Veins of gold.” In detail, the brand describes “a continuous, luminous transition from deep purple to vivid turquoise, capturing the energy of a supernova”, picked out with “hand-painted gold details” creating “a shimmering effect that shifts with the light”. Basso sees in that enough to make every frame “a unique, hand-made tribute to excellence”.
Rennrad-News adds that logos and a gold “GVA Edition” emblem complete the finish. The German outlet also notes that any premium attached to this paint scheme does not appear in the documents it was sent: at this stage, the range’s prices are known, but not the extra cost of the colourway itself.

The occasion for the series is precisely dated: “Ten years after Greg Van Avermaet’s victory at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, his winning legacy meets our future”, Basso writes. The brand recalls a record built “from Monuments like Paris-Roubaix to Olympic glory”, on “explosive attacks and unforgettable victories”.
What makes this tribute unusual is that the rider now works for the brand. “Today, as Basso’s Head of Riding Experience, he brings that champion mindset directly into the way we ride”, the official page states. Van Avermaet has held the role since the start of 2026 and works with the engineering department in particular, Rennrad-News notes.
The SV, an unchanged Sempre Veloce road bike
Under the paint, the SV — for Sempre Veloce — remains what Basso says it is: “a philosophy where aerodynamics, low weight and handling precision meet comfort and versatility”. Translated into figures, according to the data reported by Rennrad-News: a 780 g frame, a 370 g fork, and tyre clearance rising to 35 mm on rims with a 25 mm internal width. Enough to cover a lot of ground, from the Sunday criterium to broken-up roads.
The Supernova paint is offered in seven frame sizes and with the five electronic groupsets in the SV programme, still according to the same source, which gives eleven complete builds ranging from €7,949 to €12,459. The frameset is listed at €4,999. At this price level, the question is no longer really one of value for money: it is whether you fancy riding a gold medal.
