IN BRIEF
Neomouv, an electric bike brand based in La Flèche, in the Pays de la Loire region of western France, says it requested and obtained on 29 September the opening of receivership proceedings (redressement judiciaire) before the commercial court of Le Mans. The observation period is intended to prepare a sale: a buyer is being sought with the court-appointed administrator. Business continues, and the company says orders, deliveries and after-sales service are being handled as usual. The statement cites the severe difficulties facing the bike industry.
Neomouv, active in urban cycling for more than 20 years according to its website, says it applied for receivership itself; the procedure was ordered on 29 September by the commercial court of Le Mans.
Neomouv: receivership to prepare a sale
During receivership, the company keeps operating for the duration of an observation period. For Neomouv, this period is explicitly intended to prepare a sale, and the search for a buyer is being carried out with the help of the administrator, according to the statement reported by SPORTéco. The text places the decision in the context of severe difficulties for the bike industry, which are affecting many brands and many manufacturers.
Orders, deliveries and after-sales service maintained
For customers, the message is meant to be reassuring: the brand’s business continues and its teams remain committed to handling orders, deliveries and after-sales service as usual, says the statement, which quotes Pascal Gigot, president of Neomouv.
Neomouv claims a network of more than 600 authorised dealers in France, the United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal. Its bikes are designed in the Pays de la Loire, then painted and assembled in Portugal, according to the brand’s website. On the same website, the brand describes a wide range of electric bikes, for everyday journeys as well as weekend rides: urban, folding, hybrid and mountain bikes.
