Gabba Pro, Perfetto 4 and Pro: Castelli extends AirCore, billed as PFAS-free

IN BRIEF

Castelli is moving three mid-season garments to Polartec AirCore fabric, whose membrane the brand presents as PFAS-free. The new Gabba Pro, with short sleeves, is listed at €260 on Castelli’s French website, with a claimed weight of 196 g. The Perfetto splits in two: a warmer Perfetto 4, in 219 g AirCore, at €260, and a lighter, race-cut Perfetto Pro at €280. This is the first time AirCore has been used on the Gabba, according to road.cc. Castelli says this launch includes a women’s version of the Perfetto 4.

On 23 September 2026, Castelli unveiled the Castelli Gabba Pro and two new versions of its Perfetto jacket, the Perfetto 4 and the Perfetto Pro. What the three pieces have in common is Polartec AirCore fabric. On its product pages, Castelli describes it as an electrospun, air-permeable, PFAS-free membrane that protects in cool weather and light showers. For the Perfetto 4 and the Perfetto Pro, the brand states that the membrane and fabrics are entirely PFAS-free.

Castelli was already using AirCore: according to road.cc, the Perfetto RoS 3 was the first jacket to use it, as a more environmentally friendly alternative to Gore-Tex Shakedry, which is highly protective but laden with PFAS.

The Castelli Gabba Pro, with short sleeves

This is the first time AirCore has been used on the Gabba, according to road.cc. The Gabba Pro also brings back the short sleeves of the original version, launched in 2010. The Gabba R, released in 2024, is available with both short and long sleeves. Castelli claims a 150 g AirCore fabric, a weight of 196 g and a usage range of 12 to 20 °C, in a Race fit.

The product page mentions three floating rear pockets carried over from the Gabba R, as well as shoulder seams protected from rain by clear heat-bonded tape. For really bad weather, Castelli still recommends the Gabba R, according to road.cc. The Gabba Pro is listed at €260 on the brand’s French website, in Black or Black Race Edition, from XS to 3XL. Road.cc specifies that it is sold only online, on Castelli’s website.

It’s always an exciting moment introducing a new Gabba into the range as it’s a jacket that revolutionised the cycling apparel market in the same way AirCore transformed how modern cyclists dress for colder conditions.

A warmer Perfetto 4, in 219 g AirCore

The Perfetto 4 debuts a new AirCore weight, 219 g, which according to Castelli allows it to offer more warmth and protection. Road.cc reports that it is better insulated than the RoS 3, about which the brand had received feedback saying it was less warm than previous Perfettos. It weighs 305 g and targets temperatures of 4 to 12 °C, in a Tailored fit.

Castelli explains that the fabric adapts to the intensity of the effort: the zipped vents, a signature of earlier Perfettos, are therefore no longer needed according to the brand. The Perfetto 4 is listed at €260 on the French website. Castelli says this first launch includes a women’s version of the Perfetto 4, in XS to XL according to road.cc.

The Perfetto Pro, the racing version of the range

The Perfetto Pro uses the 150 g AirCore for a weight of 226 g and a range of 6 to 14 °C, in a Race fit. It gets a two-way YKK Vislon zip and, like the Gabba Pro, floating pockets and an anti-spray rear flap taken from the Gabba R. According to road.cc, the Soudal Quick-Step team has been using it since the start of the year. It is listed at €280 on Castelli’s French website, in Belgian Blue, Black, Electric Lime, Garnet or Shadow, from XS to 3XL.
