IN BRIEF

A.S.O. announces that from 2027, Castelli will design the classification jerseys of its races and events, including the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The organiser states that the agreement, announced on 13 October in Paris, covers 27 events, sportives included. The Italian brand had already produced the yellow jersey from 1989 to 1994. The new Tour jerseys will be unveiled on 22 October, at the presentation of the 2027 route.

The yellow jersey will bear the Castelli name. Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), the organiser of the Tour de France, announced on 13 October that Castelli will design, from 2027, the classification jerseys of its cycling races. The announcement states that the brand also becomes its official technical apparel partner, for its races as well as its challenges.

A.S.O. states that the agreement covers 27 events, counting the sportives associated with its professional races. The Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift are among them. Steve Smith, Global Brand Manager at Castelli, also names Paris-Nice and the Vuelta among the major races for which the brand will make the jerseys.

Amateurs are concerned too: the organiser states that Castelli will produce the jerseys of the Étape du Tour de France, the Paris-Roubaix Challenge and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Challenge, events that attract more than 80,000 participants a year, it adds.

A return to the yellow jersey

A.S.O. points out that the Italian brand had already produced the yellow jersey from 1989 to 1994. Yann Le Moënner, CEO of A.S.O., recalls it in the press release:

“Castelli previously produced the leader jerseys from 1989 to 1994, worn by some of the sport’s greatest champions, including Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain.”

He adds that “history meets the future” and that Castelli’s experience ensures the leaders products that “meet the highest standards of quality”. For Steve Smith, this is “a truly monumental moment in Castelli’s 150-year history”, and producing the yellow jersey is “the greatest honour there is” for a cycling brand. He sums up: “returning to the Tour de France feels like a real homecoming.”

The jerseys unveiled on 22 October

The new jerseys of the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will be presented in Paris on 22 October, at the presentation of the 2027 Tour route. Other jerseys will follow, as well as wider clothing collections around the partnership. It was launched with a group ride with ambassadors, including Valentin Paret-Peintre.
