IN BRIEF

On 9 October, Muc-Off unveiled the Ceramic Spray Sealant, an SiO₂-based ceramic protection spray that can be used on bikes, among other things. The brand claims up to six months of protection with a quick application: spray on, then buff with a microfibre cloth. The brand presents it either as a standalone treatment or as a top-up to refresh an existing ceramic coating, on paint, hard plastics and protection films, in both matte and gloss finishes. The 250 ml bottle is listed at €25 on Muc-Off’s European store.

Muc-Off is adding to its care range the Ceramic Spray Sealant, a spray version of its ceramic protection. The British brand describes it as a quick and easy way to give your bike up to six months of ceramic protection. Its SiO₂ technology forms a hydrophobic barrier: water beads up and runs off.

How to apply the Ceramic Spray Sealant

Muc-Off promises a hydrophobic finish in seconds, by spraying then buffing. The product page details the method: spread the product with a clean microfibre cloth, then flip the cloth to its dry side, or use a fresh one, to buff. On a bike, the brand asks users to cover disc brakes and not to spray on braking surfaces or controls.

It then needs to cure for 24 hours before the surface gets wet or is cleaned, so that the product can fully harden. The spray can be applied to paint, hard plastics, clear protection films and wraps, in both matte and gloss finishes.

On its own or alongside the ceramic kit

The Ceramic Spray Sealant can serve as a standalone ceramic treatment, or as a quick top-up to refresh an existing ceramic coating. For the longest-lasting protection, Muc-Off points to its Ceramic Protection Kit, a complete coating system it claims lasts up to two years.

The ceramic layer reduces the adhesion of water, dirt, road grime and mud, the brand claims, so the bike stays cleaner between washes. The 250 ml bottle is on sale on Muc-Off’s European store, at €25.
