The Freerider gets a new face. adidas, owner of Five Ten, has unveiled a new generation of its Freerider mountain bike shoes, in four models: Freerider, Freerider Pro, Freerider Pro BOA and Freerider Pro BOA Clipless. The range was developed with riders such as Vali Höll, Danny MacAskill and Greg Minnaar.
The Freerider welcomes clipless pedals
With this generation, adidas brings together two ranges that were previously separate, notes the German magazine BIKE: the Freerider for flat pedals, launched in 2009, and the former Five Ten Hellcat range for clipless pedals. The Freerider Pro BOA Clipless combines the grip of Stealth rubber and the fit and look of the Freerider with the clipless performance associated with the Hellcat, according to the press release.
Its sole switches to Stealth Marathon rubber, which is more wear-resistant, and its cleat slot has been redesigned with 5 mm of extra rearward adjustment. It closes with two BOA dials. It was developed with the Norco adidas Race Division and riders such as Greg Minnaar, Vali Höll and Dakotah Norton, and made its debut at the Whistler World Cup.

The adidas three stripes arrive on the Freerider
According to the press release, these Freeriders are the first models to carry both the adidas three stripes and the Five Ten logo. On the Pro models, adidas fits a reinforced five-layer toe cap with Poron protection, an asymmetric construction and an integrated debris guard. The Freerider Pro BOA for flat pedals keeps a full Stealth rubber sole and closes with a single BOA Li2 dial.
Luke Hontz, senior product manager for bike at adidas, explains that the brand had “reimagined what Freerider could be” rather than making incremental updates.
From €120 to €250, in March 2027
The range starts at €120. The Freerider Pro BOA is announced at €180, the Freerider Pro BOA Clipless at €250. The four models will go on sale from March 2027, according to the adidas press release, on the adidas UK website and app, in UK sizes 3 to 9 for women and 5 to 14 for men.
