Segway has confirmed the launch of two new electric bikes before the end of 2026, both expected in the third quarter. The first will move its Xyber platform — today an off-road machine closer to an electric motorbike than to a bicycle — towards a road-legal model, with selectable Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 modes. The second model remains under wraps. Neither the specifications nor the prices of these new models have been revealed.

Segway has no intention of stopping there with electric bikes. The manufacturer confirmed to specialist outlet Electrek that it would broaden its range with two additional models before the end of 2026, both expected in the third quarter. After the Myon commuter bike and the MUXI cargo bike launched earlier in the year, the brand is stepping up its presence in a sector it joined only recently.
The Segway Xyber finally road-legal
The first of the two will build on the Xyber platform. In its current form, this model deliberately blurs the line between the electric bike and the small motorbike: big 20 × 5.0 inch tyres, cast aluminium frame, full suspension and, in dual-battery configuration, up to 6,000 watts of peak power and 175 Nm of torque. Enough to hit 35 mph (around 56 km/h) — figures that today confine it to strictly off-road use.
The next generation will change tack. Segway says it is designing it as a road-legal electric bike, with selectable Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 modes “where permitted by applicable laws” — the North American regulatory categories that govern pedal assistance and speed. “The new generation of the Xyber platform illustrates the way we continue to evolve our electric bike technology,” says Heather Henderson, Senior Brand Manager at Segway. The manufacturer promises a model that is more versatile day to day, while keeping the strong character of the original machine.
A second bike still under wraps
The second model, for its part, remains shrouded in mystery: Segway confirms it is coming but is revealing no details for now. “With two additional e-bike launches planned for 2026, we are continuing to broaden our range and serve a greater number of riders in the US market,” sums up George Lee, the brand’s Sales Operations Director.
For now, no technical specifications, no price and no precise date have been announced for these two new models, expected before the end of the year. The announcement says nothing about the European market: the Xyber remains, to date, a product sold in the United States. The official announcements will have to wait before the final shape of this new-version Xyber is known.
