Ghost finally finds a buyer: the brand moves to Bike Tree, alongside Haibike and Winora

IN BRIEF

A few days after its demise was announced, Ghost has found a buyer: the German brand and all its intellectual property rights are moving to Bike Tree GmbH. The company, backed by the Singapore-based Tri Star / DuTech group, has already taken over Haibike and Winora, and will manage Ghost alongside them. As of 5 November, the takeover announcement said nothing about the 53 employees, the site, the range, the warranty or spare parts for existing Ghost bikes, nor about a completion date.

Ghost joins Haibike and Winora at Bike Tree

The turnaround is swift. Insolvency proceedings for Ghost-Bikes GmbH had opened on 1 November at the Schweinfurt court. The company’s statement at the time planned an orderly wind-down of operations and the bulk sale of the bikes in stock to a retailer. The company still employed 53 people.

On 5 November, the announcement changed the outlook for the brand. The announcement states that the Ghost brand and its intellectual property rights are moving to Bike Tree GmbH, which will manage them alongside Winora and Haibike. Bike Tree says it can draw on its experience with the brand and its expertise in product development, brand management and distribution, with the aim of continuing to develop Ghost and strengthening its market position. For those two brands, the contract with Bike Tree had been signed as early as 29 October, the day their proceedings opened. Ghost was not part of it.

DuTech, the buyer that wanted all of Accell

Behind Bike Tree is the Tri Star / DuTech group, based in Singapore. It had first tried to buy the Accell group, Ghost’s former owner. Germany’s Federal Cartel Office had approved the deal on 8 July 2026, but the sale fell through at the turn of July and August. In Europe, the group already owns the bicycle manufacturers Prophete and New Cycle.

What the announcement does not say

As of 5 November, the takeover announcement covered the brand and its intellectual property, contained no information about the employees, the site, the range, the warranty or spare parts for Ghost bikes already sold, and gave no date for completion of the deal. For owners of Ghost bikes, the question of after-sales service therefore remains open.
