IN BRIEF
Ghost-Bikes GmbH, based in Waldsassen, Germany, has announced that it will cease operations once its last bikes have been sold. The press release states that the remaining stock is to go as a single lot to one retailer, which it does not name. The company still employed 53 people when its insolvency proceedings opened on 1 November 2026. The deal that saved Haibike and Winora, its sister brands within the Accell group, leaves Ghost out.
Ghost Bikes: a stock sale instead of a buyer
The self-administered insolvency proceedings (Eigenverwaltung, under German law) were opened on 1 November 2026. Ghost Bikes had applied for them as early as 5 August, at the same time as its parent company Accell Germany and its sister companies Winora Staiger and E. Wiener Bike Parts.
Stefan Debus, the trustee appointed to oversee the proceedings, considers that no offer would have served creditors better than an orderly sale of the stock. The management, led by Joost van Schaik, is supported by the restructuring team of the law firm Grub Brugger, headed by Martin Mucha.
Ghost was the German mountain bike subsidiary of the Dutch group Accell. Haibike and Winora, for their part, have found a buyer (read our article). Ghost has not: with no offer deemed more attractive for creditors, the company will simply sell off what remains in its warehouses before shutting down.

No more orders, and questions for owners
Since the proceedings opened, it is no longer possible to place an individual order with Ghost-Bikes GmbH. The bikes still in stock will be sold en bloc to a single retailer.
The press release of 2 November says nothing about the timetable, either for job cuts or for the end of operations. Nor does it say anything about warranty, spare parts or service for Ghost bikes already sold: that is the question their owners are now asking. The press release is also silent on the use or possible sale of the rights to the Ghost brand name: the closure of Ghost-Bikes GmbH therefore does not settle the future of the name.
