IN BRIEF

Öhlins takes its first step beyond mountain biking with the GXF30 M.1, which the brand presents as its first dedicated gravel suspension fork. It offers 40 mm of travel at launch, an FTX14 cartridge with three compression modes and clears tyres up to 52 mm. road.cc reports a weight of 1,249 g, a price of €895 and a first run limited to 300 forks, sold through the brand’s Fast Forward programme.

Suspension specialist Öhlins is moving into gravel. The brand presents the GXF30 M.1 as “our first dedicated gravel suspension fork” and claims it brings more comfort, traction and control on rough tracks.

What the Öhlins GXF30 offers

The fork will initially be offered only with 40 mm of travel, road.cc writes. That travel is managed by a new FTX14 cartridge with a monotube hydraulic system. road.cc specifies that it offers three positions: a full lockout called Sprint, an intermediate mode, Grind, and a fully open mode, Business, and that the damper also offers a low-speed compression adjustment.

On the fitting side, the GXF30 M.1 is designed for flat mount brakes and optimised for a 160 mm rotor. It clears a 52 mm wide tyre, or 47 mm with a mudguard. road.cc reports a weight of 1,249 g, and Brujula an axle-to-crown length of 445 mm. road.cc adds that the narrower hub spacing of gravel brings greater torsional stiffness.

A first run of 300 units at €895

road.cc says the fork is for now available through Öhlins’ Fast Forward programme, in a run of only 300 units, and that it costs €895 in euros. As of 21 October, the mountain bike page of the Öhlins website presented the fork without showing a price.
