In early August, Cycles Lapierre asked the Dijon commercial court to place it into redressement judiciaire. The hearing has taken place and the decision has come down: it matches what the company was seeking.
Lapierre in redressement judiciaire: six months of observation

A court-appointed administrator is named, and the company keeps operating during that period, while it looks for an investor.
The timetable described by ici.fr includes a nearer milestone. According to the regional outlet, « over the following two months, the company will have to demonstrate to the commercial court that it has the capacity to keep financing its business ». In other words, the reprieve obtained on Tuesday is first of all a reprieve to prove that it can hold on.
« We can act »
William Perrier, managing director of Lapierre, summed up the scope of the decision in a statement released in the early afternoon, ici.fr reports: « The Court’s decision gives us exactly what we had come to ask for: the possibility and the time to fight. » He immediately added the qualification that matters: « It does not mean that we are saved, but it means that we can act. »
The brand has been based in Dijon for more than eighty years and today employs 106 people in the metropolitan area. According to presseagence.fr, « the redressement judiciaire procedure does not suspend employment contracts. Employees keep their jobs ». It has a historic industrial site and a design office on the spot. According to ici.fr, the company is facing cash-flow problems, « in particular because of the difficulties of its main shareholder, the Dutch group Accell ».
Improving accounts, but still in the red
The figures released by the company, relayed by presseagence.fr, describe a recovery already under way before the hearing. Revenue for 2025 stands at 99.1 million euros, and « the operating loss has been significantly reduced, going from 46.3 million euros in 2024 to 27.2 million in 2025, an improvement of more than 41 % in one year ». The loss therefore remains considerable relative to revenue.
What Lapierre is putting on the table for a potential buyer, still according to the same source: the Dijon site, « an assembly unit, recognised R&D expertise and a commercial network of more than 800 dealers in France and internationally ». The company also points to a still substantial market — « the cycle market, although in correction, is still worth 3.11 billion euros in France » — and a gravel segment up 18 %.
Before the hearing, William Perrier had told ici.fr that he had received « around twenty expressions of interest » since the request was announced; the challenge now is to turn them into deals. One question stays open at this stage of the procedure: who will take over a brand whose operating loss still stood at 27.2 million euros in 2025, in a market the company itself describes as being in correction? The answer will shape the six months ahead.
