IN BRIEF
Hope is launching the Avinox Speed Sensor Rotor, a brake rotor for electric mountain bikes fitted with DJI’s Avinox motor. The slots read by the speed sensor are cut directly into the rotor, doing away with the separate sensor ring. The stainless steel rotor, a single laser-cut piece, is 2.3 mm thick and comes in 200, 203 and 220 mm, with a 6-bolt mount. Hope sells it for €56.50 excluding VAT, to be ordered through its dealers.

On an electric mountain bike, the motor needs to know the wheel speed. On bikes fitted with DJI’s Avinox motor, this information comes from a sensor ring mounted with the brake rotor. Hope, a maker of brakes and hubs, now offers a way to do without it: its new rotor itself carries the slots read by the sensor.
The Hope Avinox rotor doubles as a sensor
Hope starts from its existing fixed rotor, the Fixed Rotor, and adds a ring of slots around the six mounting holes. The rotor and the sensor target are now a single piece, laser-cut from stainless steel. eMTB-News, which presented the product, counts 42 slots.

2.3 mm thick to handle the heat
The rotor is 2.3 mm thick. Hope says this 2.3 mm material gives it stiffness, strength, vibration damping and thermal stability. It fits 6-bolt hubs, and the mounting bolts are supplied.
Price and availability
Hope announces a recommended price of €56.50 excluding VAT. The rotor can be ordered through Hope dealers.
