IN BRIEF

Ari Bikes is launching the Shafer HP, a pedal-assist version of its Shafer gravel bike, with the same geometry and a carbon frame. It gets the TQ HPR 60 motor, rated at 60 Nm and 350 W for 1.9 kg, and an integrated 360 Wh battery that can be extended with a bottle-format 160 Wh range extender. The frame takes tyres up to 700x58c and gravel suspension forks. The brand’s website lists a starting price of €3,805.95 for the Sport build.

Ari chose the TQ HPR 60, a bottom-bracket motor that the spec sheet rates at 60 Nm of torque and 350 W of assistance, for 1.9 kg. Three assist levels are offered: Eco, Mid and High. The 360 Wh battery is integrated into the frame; for long rides, a bottle-sized 160 Wh range extender can be added.

An electric gravel bike that keeps room for 58 mm tyres

The carbon frame takes 700x58c tyres, i.e. 29×2.25 inches, on rims with a 30 mm internal width; for everyday use, it takes tyres up to 50c with mudguards. The rear end uses a 12×142 mm axle with a UDH hanger. The Shafer HP also accepts gravel suspension forks, such as the RockShox Rudy XL, the Rudy, the 32AX, the MRP Baxter or the Suntour GVX. The official spec sheet states at least two bottles in the front triangle, three from M to XL.
