Canyon is switching motors. On 13 October the German brand presented the new generation of its Spectral:ON CF electric mountain bike, built around the Avinox M2S motor and its FP700 battery. The press release details only one model, the CF 9 AXS, and announces three other Spectral:ON CF models, to be presented on Canyon’s website between November 2026 and January 2027.
The Avinox M2S motor at full power
The French product page lists 1,500 watts of peak power and 150 Nm of torque. The 700 Wh battery is the key component here: Canyon presents it as the only Avinox battery able to release the M2S motor’s full peak power, whichever assistance mode is selected.
On range, the brand talks in climbing rather than kilometres: up to 2,000 metres of elevation gain per charge in ECO mode. The product page adds that the brake hoses can be replaced without removing the battery or the motor.
A 2.9 kg carbon frame for the Spectral:ON CF
The carbon frame weighs 2.9 kg according to the press release and is certified to category 4e, the enduro level of strength and impact testing. The French product page lists the complete CF 9 AXS at 21.7 kg, without specifying the size measured. Canyon also quotes 20.8 kg for a future Spectral:ON LTD, described as “coming soon”.
On geometry, the 64° head angle should keep the bike stable on fast descents, Canyon explains, and the seat angle is 78.5°. The press release states that the models come with mullet wheels, 29-inch front and 27.5 rear, and the product page specifies that a flip chip allows a switch to 29-inch wheels front and rear.
A €6,999 CF 9 AXS, delivered in January
The CF 9 AXS combines a Fox 36 Factory fork, a Fox Float X Factory shock, a SRAM X0 Eagle AXS Transmission drivetrain, SRAM Maven Silver brakes and DT Swiss carbon wheels. It is listed at €6,999 on Canyon’s French website, marked “Coming soon”.
The press release announces pre-orders for 4 December in most countries, and deliveries from 19 January.
