IN BRIEF

The trustees of Accell Nederland, in consultation with the secured creditors, have agreed the sale of the Dutch subsidiary’s bicycle stock to the retailer 12GO Biking. The stock consists of Batavus, Sparta and Koga bikes. 12GO says it wanted to prevent them from leaving the professional dealer network: other dealers will be able to order these bikes through the Tweewielerportal.nl platform, and temporary offers will be made to consumers. According to NieuwsFiets, the bikes will also be sold in 12GO’s shop and online store. The press release states that the parties are disclosing neither the financial terms nor the volumes.

The trustees of Accell Nederland have found a buyer for the existing bicycle stock. The Dutch retailer 12GO Biking is taking it over, according to a press release published on 30 September.

Why 12GO Biking is taking over Accell’s stock

For the trustees, selling the stock is the priority at this stage of the bankruptcy. For 12GO Biking, the press release describes a real risk of Batavus, Sparta and Koga bikes being sold off outside the professional dealer network, which could have disrupted 12GO itself, but also other dealers and the industry as a whole. Accell accounts for only a limited share of the turnover of 12GO Biking, which works with many other brands.

“In the end, we judged the risk of these bikes leaving the professional dealer network to be too great,” 12GO Biking explains in the press release (quote translated from the Dutch).

A platform for other dealers

The Tweewielerportal.nl platform has been set up for other shops: existing professional dealers can open an account there and order Batavus, Sparta and Koga bikes while stocks last. According to NieuwsFiets, the bikes will also be sold in 12GO Biking’s shop and online store. Private buyers benefit from the associated service and consumer rights.

The NieuwsFiets website reports that, according to Pieter van den Berg, the deal covers Accell’s entire bicycle stock in the Netherlands, amounting to several tens of thousands of bikes; speaking to Bright, he puts it at more than 10,000 bikes. Bright adds that 12GO Biking has also taken over the brand-specific parts that Accell managed itself.

The rest of Accell still for sale

According to the press release, this sale is separate from the other processes for selling the Accell group’s assets and businesses. The trustees had said that around sixty candidates had come forward for parts of the group or individual brands. According to the Dutch bankruptcy register, Accell Nederland B.V. was declared bankrupt on 13 August 2026, with T. Hekman appointed as trustee.
