IN BRIEF
Riese & Müller has appointed Richard Bohl as chief financial officer, in post since 15 August. It is the third piece of a rapid reshuffle: co-founder Heiko Müller left operational management on 31 July, after more than three decades, and Udo Jankowski joined alongside managing director Sandra Wolf on 1 August. The German cargo bike and electric bike manufacturer has therefore changed generation at its helm in the space of fifteen days.
Three successive announcements, and the operational management of Riese & Müller has a new face. The latest of them concerns the finance function.
Riese & Müller appoints Richard Bohl chief financial officer
According to Cycling Industry News, which relays the brand’s press release, Richard Bohl has been “responsible for the financial management of the company” since 15 August 2026, and reports to the executive management. His role is described as centralised support on financial matters and processes, accompanying the company’s growth.
The new chief financial officer comes from another sector: he held “senior financial positions for more than ten years” and was “most recently managing director of a company in the healthcare sector”, again according to the same source. Sandra Wolf, managing partner and chief executive of Riese & Müller, comments: “With Richard Bohl we are gaining an experienced leader, someone who combines financial expertise with a clear vision for the long-term growth of the company.”

The last founder leaves operational management
This is the element that gives the sequence its significance. German outlet Pedelecs und E-Bikes writes that “after more than three decades in operational leadership, Heiko Müller is ending his activity within the management of Riese & Müller as of 31 July 2026”, and that “with him withdraws the last representative of the founding generation from the company’s operational management”.
The same outlet recalls what the company owes him: Heiko Müller “decisively shaped the development of the company, in particular through early strategic decisions in favour of electric mobility”, choices “regarded as an essential factor in the company’s later positioning in the premium segment of the sector”.
Udo Jankowski, the summer’s other arrival
Two weeks before Bohl, Udo Jankowski joined the management team. “From 1 August, Jankowski will help shape the operational development of the company alongside managing director Sandra Wolf,” Cycling Industry News reports.
His background lies in engineering and mobility: he was “president of the holding company and managing director of its subsidiaries”, with experience of “managing global teams” and of “complex innovation and transformation programmes”. He is also an associate professor of leadership and has chaired for the past eight years, within the German automotive industry association (VDA), the working group devoted to development service providers.
“Riese & Müller has built an excellent reputation through its innovative strength, its clear values and its outstanding products,” he says in the press release relayed by Cycling Industry News. Sandra Wolf, for her part, sums up the profile sought: “Jankowski is joining us as a leader who combines technological excellence with entrepreneurial experience.”
The timing counts as much as the names. In fifteen days, a cargo bike and electric bike manufacturer has seen its last founder leave and two executives arrive from industrial engineering and corporate finance. Its management now looks like that of an industrial group.
