Norco issued a voluntary safety recall on 1 August which, according to the manufacturer’s notice, covers “all models and sizes” of the Gen 3 Model Year 2027 Fluid, a trail mountain bike that reached shops barely two weeks earlier. The reason is spelled out in the notice: the seat tube could fail under certain use conditions. The Canadian brand is asking owners to stop riding their bike immediately. Four versions are affected: the Fluid A1 in blue, the A2 in silver, and the A3 in both green and black. Norco states that no accidents or injuries have been reported and says it is investigating the problem, without yet announcing a replacement solution.

Two weeks. That is how long the new Norco Fluid lasted between reaching shops in mid-July and the recall notice published on 1 August on the Canadian manufacturer’s website. The text runs to a few lines: “a voluntary safety recall for all models and sizes of the Gen 3 Model Year 2027 Fluid”. Then, a sentence later, the instruction no manufacturer writes lightly: “Please stop riding your bicycle immediately.”
The 2027 Norco Fluid recall targets the seat tube
Norco names the part involved without hedging: “the seat tube could fail under certain use conditions”. The notice describes neither the failure mode nor the conditions in question, and does not give the number of bikes affected. It does state that the decision is preventive — “while no accidents or injuries have been reported, we are taking this proactive step” — and that the brand is “actively investigating the issue and will provide affected riders with further instructions and information about next steps as soon as possible”. In other words, at the time the notice was published, the replacement solution had not been settled.
Four versions, every size
The notice lists four references, in model year 2027: the Fluid A1 (Gen 3) in blue, the Fluid A2 (Gen 3) in silver, and the Fluid A3 (Gen 3) in green and in black. The notice states that all sizes are affected. Owners are asked to contact Norco Rider Support by email at warranty@norco.com or on 1-800-663-8916, and the official notice comes with downloadable documents in English and in French.
A bike that had only just come out
The Fluid is one of the pillars of the Norco range: an aluminium trail mountain bike, 130 mm of rear travel and 140 mm at the front on 29-inch wheels, pitched on its equipment-to-price ratio. This third generation, unveiled in July, promised a lighter frame, guided internal cable routing and adjusted sizing. The top-end A1 gets a RockShox Lyrik Select+ in 140 mm, a Super Deluxe Select RT shock, a mechanical Shimano XT drivetrain and SLX brakes; the entry-level A3 makes do with a RockShox Recon, a DVO Opal shock, a 10-speed Shimano CUES and four-piston Tektro brakes.
What Norco will actually offer buyers of the first batch remains to be seen — the 1 August notice does not say.
