IN BRIEF

The route of the 2027 Giro d’Italia Women was unveiled on 3 November in Rome, alongside the men’s race. The race will start from Viareggio on Saturday 29 May and finish on Sunday 6 June in the Aosta Valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc. It has nine stages with no rest day, 1,132 km and 17,450 m of climbing. The time trial, 11 km uphill in the Valdigne, comes on the penultimate stage, before a finale in which the Colle San Carlo (1,951 m) crests 24.9 km from the finish.

Demi Vollering will defend the title she took on the final day of the 2026 edition of the Giro d’Italia Women.

The 2027 Giro Women starts from Viareggio

Stage 1 is raced on a circuit around Viareggio, with four ascents of the Pitoro climb (220 m), separated by flat sections. Stage 2, from Massa to Genoa, follows the Via Aurelia and crosses the Passo del Bracco (619 m) and San Martino di Noceto (265 m).

Stage 3, from Cogorno to Viadana, opens with the climb of the Passo del Bocco (957 m), followed by a long descent through the Val di Taro.

Presolana and Madesimo, two summit finishes

Stage 4, from Credaro to the Passo della Presolana, ends at the summit: the last 11.6 kilometres climb at an average of 5.4%, with sections at 10%.

Stage 6, from Bergamo to Madesimo-Valle Spluga, crosses the Passo San Marco (1,987 m) and also finishes uphill, after a final climb of 19.3 km at an average of 6.3% with gradients of up to 13%. The next day, between Carugate and Rho, the last 40 kilometres are mostly flat or downhill.

A final weekend in the Aosta Valley

The Valdigne time trial, on stage 8, climbs around 500 m over its 11 km, with an intermediate check at 5.7 km and a maximum gradient of 9%.

The next day, in the finale, the formidable Colle San Carlo offers the last test of the race, and perhaps the decisive one. Its summit, at 1,951 m, lies 24.9 km from the line.
