IN BRIEF
Winora Staiger, Ghost-Bikes and E. Wiener Bike Parts, three of the four German companies in the Accell group that filed on 5 August, together with their parent company Accell Germany GmbH, for insolvency proceedings under self-administration, have briefed their trade partners on where the case stands. According to the German trade magazine Radmarkt, management says it is close to concluding agreements with financing partners that would allow the companies to resume their shipments. According to the same source, the Schweinfurt-based companies are pointing their dealers towards two trade events: the BIKE&CO Orderfestival in Kassel, from 4 to 6 September, and Austria on Bike, from 15 to 17 September. The proceedings aim at restructuring the German companies and finding an investor.
In an industrial bankruptcy, the timetable that matters to a shop is the lorry’s, more than the court’s. A month after the filing by Accell’s German subsidiaries, the question Winora and Ghost dealers are asking fits in a single sentence — when do the boxes start moving again? A cautious answer has just been given to trade partners.
Financing agreements « on the point » of being concluded
The German trade magazine Radmarkt reported the news on 2 September. According to the magazine, management has briefed trade partners on the state of play, and says the following: « Man stehe kurz davor, mit Finanzierungspartnern Vereinbarungen abzuschließen, die es den Gesellschaften ermöglichen würden, den Versand wieder aufzunehmen. » That is: the company is said to be close to concluding agreements with financing partners that would allow the companies to resume shipments.
The conditional is there in the German text, and it matters. Nothing is signed as of the date of the announcement, and Radmarkt gives neither the names of the financing partners nor a timetable.

Two trade events to reassure dealers
The second signal sent to the network is more concrete, and it comes with dates. According to Radmarkt, « the Schweinfurt companies are flagging up to the trade the opportunities to meet in person, namely at the BIKE&CO Orderfestival in Kassel (4-6 September) and from 15 to 17 September at Austria on Bike ».
Turning up at an ordering show a month after a bankruptcy filing is a way of telling retailers that the ranges can still be ordered. It is also the time of year when the following season’s order books are decided — the calendar left little choice.
What the application filed on 5 August covers
Some background, corroborated by the German trade press: on 5 August 2026, Accell Germany GmbH and its subsidiaries Winora Staiger GmbH, Ghost-Bikes GmbH and E. Wiener Bike Parts GmbH filed their application with the district court of Schweinfurt. The route chosen is self-administration, which leaves management in place under supervision.
The stated goal is « the restructuring of the German companies and an investor solution » — in other words, detaching « the German operations » from the international group. Radmarkt writes that the proceedings « should create the possibility of restructuring the companies, securing their future in the long term and developing the business ». According to the company, all operations are to continue during the proceedings, and employees’ wages are guaranteed by insolvency benefit until the end of October 2026.
The context extends beyond Germany: according to the German trade press, after the failure of a process to sell the group as a whole, Accell « has initiated insolvency proceedings in numerous countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Hungary ».
What is at stake goes beyond the three legal entities. The perimeter concerned brings together, according to the German trade press, the Winora, Haibike, Ghost and E. Wiener Bike Parts brands: a resumption of shipments would therefore involve new bikes as well as parts.
